Versan Johnson, MD

Versan Johnson, MD received her medical degree from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She completed her residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain medicine with University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Johnson is double board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, and is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Originally from the Caribbean, Dr. Johnson and her family moved to Florida when she was just nine years old. She decided to become a physician because both of her parents had careers in healthcare. She spent countless afternoons at their respective jobs, which gave her ample opportunity to interact with patients and better appreciate the bond between patients and healthcare providers. Dr. Johnson chose to specialize in anesthesiology and pain medicine because both allow her to perform procedures and follow a patient’s progression over time. Patients with pain, specifically chronic pain, present a unique opportunity and challenge that is not present in most medical specialties, and for Dr. Johnson, the ability to improve someone’s quality of life is one of the most rewarding experiences.
